Zohran Mamdani has suddenly become a topic of interest today, especially in countries connected to America and Trump in some way. After his election as Mayor of New York City, people’s curiosity has grown about his astrological chart, predictions, personal life, and future.
It isn’t that everything happened overnight. Since 2021, Zohran has been a member of the New York State Assembly representing Astoria, Queens, and he has been part of the Democratic Party. He has now become the youngest mayor ever elected in New York City’s history. Zohran Mamdani is also the first Muslim and the first South Asian to become mayor of New York.
He was born on 18 October 1991 in Kampala, Uganda. His full name is Zohran Kwame Mamdani. He is the son of Indian-American film director Mira Nair and Indian-origin professor Mahmood Mamdani. His wife’s name is Ram Duwaji.
New York City has gained a young mayor, but more importantly, an Indian-origin candidate who defeated two strong contenders: former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who ran as an independent, and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa.
Zohran Mamdani Birth Chart
Zohran Mamdani was born on 18 October 1991 in Kampala, Uganda at 1:15 AM. His family moved to New York City in 1998, and he is now an American citizen.
In his Cancer ascendant and Capricorn moon sign chart, the Sun placed in the 4th house in debilitation forms a Neech Bhanga Raj Yoga. Mars, Mercury, and Jupiter are benefic; Saturn is in its own sign; Venus, Rahu, and Ketu also produce positive results. Mercury, ruling the 3rd and 12th houses and placed in the 4th house, indicates residence away from the birthplace and settlement in a foreign country.
In Mamdani’s Cancer ascendant chart, the Moon (ascendant lord) is placed in the 7th house, which in mundane astrology signifies public fame. Mars, the 5th and 10th lord, aspects the Moon, forming a strong Raj Yoga. Saturn in its own sign in the 7th house creates the Shasha Mahapurush Yoga, which brings exceptional success, especially during Saturn’s major or sub-periods.
The debilitated Sun in the 7th house creates Neech Bhanga Raj Yoga. His chart shows two Kendra-Trikona Raj Yogas, seven Raj Yogas, eleven career-related Raj Yogas, and Brahma Yoga, all contributing to a powerful horoscope.
In the 6th house, Rahu sits in Sagittarius, receiving the 5th aspect of Jupiter positioned in the 2nd house, forming Ashta Lakshmi Yoga. However, all planets residing only in three signs (Leo, Libra, Capricorn) create Sool Yoga, indicating suffering due to strong opponents.
Jupiter’s major period runs from April 24, 2016 to 2032. In the Navamsa chart, the Atmakaraka Moon and Amatyakaraka Venus are both in the ascendant—an auspicious sign.
During Jupiter’s period, Mamdani defeated a four-term Democratic leader to win a seat in the New York State Assembly. This is purely an astrological analysis showing how planetary combinations can bring success with relatively less effort.
However, despite these yogas, the chart also shows a flawed and dual-thinking personality. The Moon is an enemy in this chart and can distort thinking, even though Venus brings political benefits. According to my astrological calculations, he will hold a top position in a nation formed out of a fragmented United States.
Zohran Mamdani Rising Sign
A birth chart is prepared based on the exact moment of birth. Since public figures’ birth times are often unconfirmed, predictions may remain approximate. Mamdani’s Sun sign is Libra, where the Sun is debilitated, but here it forms a Neech Bhanga Raj Yoga, which is favorable. Libra represents justice, balance, politics, and negotiation.
In Western and Vedic astrology, planetary house placement remains the same, only the sign can differ, so the results do not vary much. A detailed analysis of all planets by houses would be lengthy; however, the Sun, Moon, Saturn, and their yogas are highly influential in his life.
I checked Mamdani’s annual charts from 18 October 2026 to 18 October 2030 (five years). What is surprising is that in every one of these five years, the Sun remains in its debilitated sign, Libra. A debilitated Sun typically brings a reduction in self-confidence, a decline in social reputation, possible health issues, and career-related obstacles.Year-wise Sun placement in Libra:
- 2026–27: Sun in the 5th house
- 2028: Sun in the 8th house
- 2029: Sun in the 7th house
- 2030: Sun in the ascendant (1st house)
These placements indicate that during these years, Mamdani may face a downward phase in his career, along with personal and professional challenges.

Zohran Mamdani Moon Sign
According to Western astrology, Mamdani has Leo ascendant and Aquarius Moon sign. Aquarius Moon signs are known for humanitarian and intellectual thinking. They seek emotional independence and work toward big causes. Such individuals are often inclined toward human welfare and progressive ideals.
In both Vedic and Western systems, his Moon lies in Saturn-ruled signs (Capricorn/Aquarius), giving similar results. However, Vedic astrology is generally more precise.
In Vedic astrology, he has Cancer ascendant and Capricorn Moon sign. His Moon sits with Saturn in the 7th house, influencing public image, community welfare, and leadership. Moon in Capricorn indicates a disciplined nature and practical thought process.
America (New York) Future with Zohran Mamdani
Zohran Mamdani’s future in America is connected to his role as the newly elected mayor of New York City. He plans to implement affordable and progressive policies. Mamdani identifies as a socialist and was relatively unknown before his unexpected victory in the Democratic primary.
His surprising rise has triggered a debate about whether the Democratic Party is moving toward centrism or left-wing politics.
It is unlikely that he will be able to fulfill all his promises made to New Yorkers. He has said to voters:
“You have an extremely left-wing group run by socialists challenging those who call themselves liberal Democrats. I am a liberal Democrat.”
This statement reflects his desire to balance both sides. Still, Mamdani will likely do some memorable and positive work for New York.
Zohran Mamdani and Donald Trump
