Despite building grand and modern homes, many people today still feel uneasy, stuck, or suffer from unknown fears. On inspecting such a house recently, it was found that it was built in contradiction to Vedic Vastu principles, leading to discomfort among family members. No one wanted to live there. If you’re someone seeking real solutions or planning to build a home in the future, this article offers important insights.
The Foundation of Vastu: Harmony with the Five Elements
Our body is made of the five elements (Panchatatva), and so is the universe. When a home is built in alignment with these elements, that harmony is called Vastu Science. While there are 10 subtle directions in total, only eight directions are typically considered during construction. Each direction has a ruling deity, and 45 deities including Vastu Purush reside in the house.
Some of these deities are considered negative (Yama, Asura, Vitatha), while others bring healing and positivity (Roghara, Paaphara, Brahma). Whether your house attracts blessings or negativity depends on how it’s designed.
There’s always an invisible connection between the five elements in the human body and the elements in your home. This connection constantly emits energy waves that affect your well-being.
Placement of Panchatatva in Human Body:
- Sky (Aakash) – resides in the brain
- Fire (Agni) – in the shoulders
- Air (Vayu) – in the navel
- Earth (Prithvi) – in the knees
- Water (Jal) – in the feet
Proper alignment of these elements during home construction can bring lifelong happiness. Even the daily-used items should be placed mindfully to ensure a continuous flow of positive energy.
Mirror Placement in Bedroom and House According to Vastu
Mirror Placement in Bedroom as per Vastu
Whether it’s your bedroom, bathroom, or any other area of the home, the best place to hang a mirror is on the north or east wall. It is believed to enhance positive energy and reflect natural light, making the space brighter and more auspicious.
1. Dressing Table Mirror: Ideal Direction
According to Vastu, a dressing table mirror should face the north or east. It must be placed so that the mirror does not reflect the bed or the door. Also:
- Prefer rectangular or oval-shaped mirrors.
- Avoid round or sharp-edged mirrors.
2. Ideal Mirror Direction in Bedroom
In the bedroom, north or east is considered a lucky direction for mirrors. Never place mirrors facing each other, as this could lead to conflict within the family. Also:
- Avoid placing foggy or broken mirrors in the bedroom.
3. Where Not to Place a Mirror in Bedroom
Do not place mirrors in:
- The south or southeast direction.
- Directly in front of the bed, as it can cause sleep disturbances.
- Above the headboard, as it may lead to restlessness.
4. Mirror Vastu for Bathroom
Avoid placing mirrors on:
- The south or west walls of the bathroom.
- Directly opposite the toilet or door.
These placements can have a negative impact on the energy of the space.
5. Mirror Placement in Bedroom as per Feng Shui
In Feng Shui, mirrors are considered energy reflectors. Placing a mirror too close to the bed can drain your energy and disturb your sleep and peace. Also:
- Do not place a mirror in front of a window, as it may pull negative energy from outside into the room.
6. Can You Put a Mirror at the Entrance?
Although mirrors can enhance the aesthetic of an entrance:
- Vastu strictly advises against placing a mirror directly in front of the main door.
- For a balanced energy flow, place mirrors on side walls or in the northeast direction.
- A mirror can also be installed above a console table in the reception area for a welcoming vibe.
